Some of Our Main Successes

✔ Wholesale Liquor Pricing

We fought for LDB Wholesale Liquor Pricing during the first lockdown of 2020, to help lower costs for liquor primary and food primary licensees. Wholesale pricing came into effect June 2020 and was extended indefinitely in February 2021.

✔ Increased Reopening Capacity

Worked with the Public Health Office and successfully adjusted the reopening protocols from 50% capacity to 2 metre distance regulations. 

✔ Re-opening protocols/guidelines

Organized and collaborated with a panel of 60 industry representatives to write the re-opening protocols/standards blueprint for Provincial Government guidance in March & April 2020.

✔ Brought ridesharing to BC

We took the lead on the initiative to bring ride sharing to BC. Our work resulted in ride sharing being approved.

✔ Created a cost effective organic waste program

We created an organic waste program that was cost efficient for industry while also being beneficial for the environment.

✔ Eliminated harmonized sales tax

We contributed to reversing HST in BC, resulting in the 7% tax being removed from restaurant meals.

✔ Created an innovative skilled foreign worker program

We developed the industry-leading Skilled Foreign Worker program to help with BC’s labor shortage crisis.

✔ Alcohol sales with Takeout/Delivery

We advocated for the temporary authorization of liquor primary and food primary licensees to sell packaged liquor with their takeout/delivery during the beginning of the pandemic. The Liquor Control and Licensing Regulation (LCLR) approved the temporary authorization till March 31, 2021. The authorization has now been made permanent.

✔ Province Wide Patio Expansion

Rallied for province wide patio expansion approvals in May 2020 and succeeded in securing 48-hour approvals to offset indoor capacity loss.

✔ 3rd Party Delivery fees capped

Advocated and fought for 3rd party delivery fees to be capped at 15% in order to offset costs for individual small and medium sized businesses.

✔ Developed the promotional dining program Eat drink local

We developed Eat Drink Local for the benefit of the industry as a platform to promote local businesses and continue to execute the program annually with great success.

✔ Developed the annual dine around bc program

We manage local dine around programs in Victoria, Okanagan, the Comox Valley and now Delta, every year. These programs directly give back to the restaurants and the communities they are part of.

✔ Averted a ban on natural gas

We averted a City of Vancouver ban on natural gas. Resulting in numerous cost savings to businesses.

✔ initiated a grease trap review

We initiated an ongoing review with Metro Vancouver over grease interceptors that benefits all parties involved.
