Buy BC: Eat Drink Local launches for 2020 in May

As we head into spring and the official start of growing season, we are proud to be re-launching Buy BC: Eat Drink Local. The program is a unique opportunity for restaurateurs and diners to celebrate the extensive bounty of our province. What could be better in May that a fantastic meal at a local restaurant that serves up great tasting BC food and beverage? Mark your calendars for May to try somewhere new.

Under the provincial Ministry of Agriculture's Buy BC umbrella, Eat Drink Local will be featured on all Buy BC website and social channels throughout the month of May in order to connect hungry and thirsty British Columbians and visitors with restaurant meals that feature the best products we have to offer. People looking for unique BC taste experiences can visit www.buybc.gov.bc.ca for participating venues.

Are you interested in promoting the BC advantage?
Any restaurant that offers a BC taste experience can be part of this important program. If your restaurant offers BC grown, harvested, and produced food and beverage (alcoholic or not) - this is a great opportunity to showcase your pride and stand out for building business in BC. Why? Because when you spend money with BC companies on BC products, three times more money stays in our communities. Those additional dollars help keep our communities vibrant, our neighbourhoods engaged and connected, our people working and our businesses thriving.

At the BC Restaurant and Foodservices Association, our mission is to help operators build business and we believe that celebrating other local operators helps us stand out. We want to increase the awareness of and demand for quality, local foods and beverage through the restaurant and foodservice channels. We believe that BC's outstanding culinary scene offers customers flavours not to be missed. We elevate the experience even more by making connections between farmers, chefs and producers.

Are plant based foods something you are starting to explore?
Buy BC: Eat Drink Local is a great opportunity for you to get in on the demand for plant based foods. BC produces a wide range of local products: vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds and edible flowers that will not only make your dishes taste great but the added colour will make them stand out on Instagram. Plant based is here to stay - why not celebrate BC and explore our local plant based options?
